My wonderful younger sister Chudney is gifted with children! There is ease and joy as she connects with the little tiny humans. And watching her put her gift into use doing things that make our world a better place has been miraculous. She has spent much of her life cultivating her gift; as a teacher, a children’s ski instructor, and a music and creative movement leader. It was while teaching that she found her talent for writing, and she has since published a middle reader called The Loan Bean. All her years of varied experience combined with her desire to enrich the lives of children culminated in the opening of BOOKS&COOKIES: a children’s bookstore, bakery and enrichment center. I was so proud and moved when Chudney launched into this endeavor. I know that it is more than a notion to start a business, to venture outside of what you come from and to follow your passion to build something from scratch. I am still in AWE of my sister having experienced all of what all her hard work created.
Well, the first Books&Cookies location has closed, leaving an empty space in a community of families and in the hearts of the many tiny book lovers she touched over the three years it was open. So, in honor of Books&Cookies and my incredible sister, here is a tribute that I shot at the closing party.
I love you, Chudney.
Stay tuned for more from Books&Cookies!
