Okay, so I wanted to yap about how excited I was about the Grammys, Downton Abby, and my new & fab Joyus bracelets but really this video just ended up being all about my new, amazing blow out!!! Y’all know I love a good blow out and this one was just too good not to share! In the end, this video really just became exclusively about the hair but I’m okay with that hahaha!
I have tried the nook and and kindle but I am always called back to the old trusty page turning. It just works for me. I wasn’t much of a reader growing up. I’m not sure why. I guess I was lost in other forms of imagination. But, now as an adult it is one of my favorite parts of life. I am not always in a reading space. I go thru long periods where I am not in the mood to read at all. But, then there are times when TV seems too loud and over stimulating (don’t get me wrong as you all know I LOVE LOVE LOVE TV) and when silence feels daunting or when the reality of my own alone-ness is confronting and somehow a book is just the perfect antidote. So when I am in the mood –getting lost in a book can be magical. It is true, that corny saying, that “a book is like a best friend”…I agree. A good book can be a wonderful companion.
I’m participating in The American Heart Association’s campaign to promote heart health. Heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans, but there are so many simple steps, healthy habits that can help reduce your risk. So throughout the month, I’ll be encouraging you to join the healthy challenge, and I’ll be providing some tips you can use to help increase your heart’s health. This first tip I learned from Riad Nasr, a very famous chef, and an all around awesome dude who is like my surrogate big brother! (Seriously Google him and familiarize yourself with the amazingness that is Riad). I’ve been trying to schedule a cooking lesson with him, and one day when the planets align and our schedules permit we’ll make it happen, but I had an impromptu run in with the PRO and he offered a tip that I wanted to share.
I was recently introduced to Joyus.com, and it’s kind of amazing. Best of all, they’ve decided to offer my readers 20% off their first purchase (read on for details). Anyways, Joyus is a site with a really interesting approach to online shopping, they sell beauty, fashion, and home goods, but each of their products come with a video demonstration so you can really see it in action. My biggest gripe about shopping online is that there’s only so much you can tell from a picture, but with Joyus.com you get a much better sense of what your buying. I love it! Perhaps, a little too much…I could easily get lost in the site, and spend an entire afternoon browsing all the great stuff. For example the gallery above has a few of the things I found and loved. I mean I love a cutting board and how chic is this one?!
