A couple of nights ago I attended ELLE’s Women in Television Celebration. This is the second year they have done this, but this was my first time attending. It was truly a wonderful evening. So wonderful that I thought it deserved a proper thank you to ELLE and Robbie Myers and a few special shout out to some FAB ladies. These “dinners’ and “events” are a part of my job and truthfully it can often be work. I am not complaining, getting dressed up and going to wonderful fancy parties is fun, and I feel blessed to be enjoying these kinds of things as a result of my career, but like everything …they can be a mixed bag. Often we have to  attend these things solo so it can feel lonely and anxiety provoking, and sometimes these events feel like a mind field of comparison and judgement.  Well, this dinner was none of that for me.
I saw Miss Nene Leakes (who is fantastic and sweet and full of gratitude about life, which is refreshing). I shared some giggles with my friend Kim Raver who could not have had on a prettier dress and is always a great chatting buddy.  I talked about food and learned about a neat-o cocktail (the name escapes me but it includes egg whites) with the delightful, Erika Christensen. For the actual dinner portion I sat down a seat away from the hysterical Anna Camp. She and I asked each other about how our Thursdays had gone so far. And then I spent the rest of the meal (which was DELISH) with Monica Potter (across from me), Jenna Elfman to my left, and the wonderfully charming Kevin O’Malley (Senior Vice President, Publisher and Chief Revenue Officer) next to Monica.  Monica, Jenna and I had an honest, supportive and great conversation. I feel so very grateful to have had that time with women with shared experiences.
So, again I thank ELLE for hosting this event, for bringing this incredible group of women together, and for including me. It was such a treat to hang with such an awesome group of talented and amazing women and I HAD A FRIGGIN BALL!
