This Sunday at 7/6 central on BET, Black Girls Rock returns for its third year, and Regina King and I are hosting again! This is the 2nd time Regina and I have hosted BGR on the air, and we hosted it together 4 years ago before it was televised (that was where my FAB and FRZZY hair look was from).  Regina and I are like the odd couple and it is just so much fun hanging with her. We have a ball! I feel so supported by her. It is really nice to feel completely safe working with someone, no ego, no competition, just joy and sisterhood. This is what BGR is all about. How we support and celebrate each other. We have already taped the show so I have the inside scoop, and I can tell you that it is a GREAT night: star-studded, and super fun. We even allowed the men to join us this year!

Black Girls Rock celebrates the brilliance and beauty of Black Women and this year we honor: Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, Janelle Monae, Dr. Hawa Abdi, Dionne Warwick and Susan Taylor. I mean shut the front door. That is an impressive list, and you won’t believe all the presenters and performers. Ciara and Missy, Gabrielle Union, Eva Longoria…As I said, it’s a GREAT night. I can’t wait for you all to watch.

Black Girls Rock! Inc is a non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization founded by the gorgeous Beverly Bond. The Show you will see on Sunday is only a part of Beverly’s larger mission to remind young girls and all of us that the sky is the limit.
