Expressing Your Inner on the Outer
Okay, so a few days ago I attended an amazing cocktail party at Decades, hosted by costume designer/stylist B. Akerlund and of course Cameron Silver and Christos Garkinos of DECADES. We were there to celebrate the mind blowing work of Swedish designer, Bea Szenfeld. And WOW! What a treat! She creates sculptural clothing made of paper and entirely by hand. It’s high-art through the lens of fashion…and did I mention they’re made WITH JUST PAPER!? Seeing her work up close was amazing, the craftsmanship, the imagination and the obvious time spent was really something special. But I have to say it was the video of her Fashion Show that really blew my mind. To see her creations in motion is really something to behold.
When I can’t sleep sometimes I turn to Instagram. It’s not the smartest way to induce the z’s but sometimes it does lead to inspiration… during my most recent insomnia spell I happened upon Tamu McPherson, and OMG she’s incredible! I mean look at her style! She’s inspired a burst of clothing inspiration. I was particularly into her baggy sweater and skirt combo so I dove into my closet and emerged with this interpretation. Also for your viewing pleasure, I’ve included a collage of some of Tamu’s other incredible looks. I mean, COME ON!!! I’m sure you will see me in my interpretations sometime soon. Check out her blog.
You all are at it again…asking fun questions! This time around we’re talking about style, KISS t-shirts, movies, TV, and more KISS t-shirts (seriously, I love this KISS t-shirt!). Anyways, here’s the newest installment of You Asked, I Answered. Thanks for always asking such wonderful questions. PS. I can’t wait to hear how you describe my style, tehehehe.
Okay, so I have a confession to make: our live-styling session on Instagram was insanely fun for me! You guys left such thoughtful (and sometimes hilarious) comments, and I gotta say you all have amazing taste! I mean some of the pins your posted to my group board on Pinterest were absolutely gorgeous! Anyways, I loved all the looks you voted on for Black Girls Rock, so to recap all of the fun I put together this little video of all the hilarious moments from our online dress-up session. Thanks for participating!
